I want to take the time to write to you and tell you a bit more about what happens behind the scenes at Orta. I want to try and do it monthly with posts just like this one.
Let's go back to January, which was quite a special month with the absolutely fantastic collection launch.
It’s 20:45 and the time the collection is scheduled to launch is fast approaching. Nuria, Juliette, Edouard, Xavier, and I are at the office, ready to answer all your last-minute questions and make sure everything goes smoothly.
Obviously, things don’t go exactly according to plan. The site goes down and is unusable for more than 45 minutes. It’s not for lack of having done the necessary preparations with the help of web developers...
A few minutes later, dozens and dozens of messages start arriving on Instagram. The conclusion? The entire collection is a victim of its success and there won’t be enough stuff for everyone…
You must all be wondering why we didn’t have enough stock, especially for the Jules overalls?
You should know that all our creations are produced in significant quantities, but it is important for us to be sensible when it comes to our manufacturing cycle.
There’s been more and more of you in these past months, following us, buying our creations, and accompanying us on this adventure every day.
It is thanks to you that the Orta family keeps growing... so it is essential for us to mature and improve in certain areas at the same time. It’s the reason why we’re taking the time to develop and implement a pre-order system.
Why do we feel the need to put in place this pre-order system? First of all, it will allow you to order your preferred creations and not be worried about missing out. Secondly, it will avoid over-production, and therefore, a waste of resources.
Please bear in mind that we manufacture our collections in family factories in France and Portugal.
As you know, in January we started collaborating with a French factory (60% of the February collection is also made in France).
Why did we choose to work with a new factory? We did it because we always want to offer you the best quality products and we also wanted to work with a French manufacturer.
The Portuguese and French factories complement each other, with one and the same goal: that each creation be produced with quality and passion.
Of course, it takes us a lot of time, travel, and energy (even more when we accidentally end up in Dunkirk).
I must confess that the past few weeks at the office have felt like a race against the clock! With the new February collection launch happening this weekend, and a lot of secret events that we’re preparing for you... it’s just non-stop work!
I want to take this moment to thank you all for your enthusiasm for the new February collection, and for the love you’ve shown for our January one.
Thank you for believing in the “made in Europe”, for believing that all this is possible, for supporting entrepreneurship, and the French and Portuguese creations.
Through your purchases, you help create dozens of jobs. You are at the heart of it all, because nothing would have been possible without you.
And finally, once again, THANK YOU.
See you on Sunday,
